Music Monday on Empty Streets: Nelly Furtado

Posted 7:39 AM by Mezhal Ulao in Labels: , ,
I was grooving and and dancing to her tunes when I first heard her songs. It started with I am like a bird and then it was hit after hit. It was quite interesting to know also that not only was she a beautiful girl with a very distinctive voice, she has a lot of smarts too and has openly stated that she wants to be a very influential political leader of her country one day.

Here are more things about Nelly Furtado:
Nelly Kim Furtado, born December 2, 1978, is a Portuguese-Canadian singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. She has sold over 18 million albums worldwide, and currently resides in Toronto. Furtado grew up in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Furtado came to fame in 2000 with the release of her debut album Whoa, Nelly!, which featured her breakthrough Grammy Award-winning single "I'm Like a Bird". After becoming a mother and releasing the less commercially successful Folklore (2003), she returned to prominence in 2006 with the release of Loose and its hit singles "Promiscuous", "Maneater", "All Good Things (Come to an End)" and "Say It Right".

Furtado is known for experimenting with different instruments, sounds, genres, vocal styles, and languages. This diversity has been influenced by her wide-ranging musical taste and her interest in different cultures.

Here is one of her singles in a dance remix for you to enjoy:

I like the new Nelly Furtado. But I also miss the old days when she used to dress up like a tomboy.
I guess motherhood brings drastic changes to a woman. :)

Hi Louise,

yup there are times when I do miss the old Nelly Furtado hehehe but she is truly a good singer and has learned to diversify her music. :)
